Distance is a big factor when it comes to wanky speeds on ADSL. The line can be fine but the signal gets weaker when the distance gets longer.

heh maybe you are approaching this the wrong way, maybe your line is fine, demon is fine but your location from the exchange is WANK. ADSL has alot of variables which can result it being a terrible service.

Yeah 8mb down and 800k up. We see about 150 up and 200 down most the day (with only 10 users on).

netblock is likely to be owned by Demon so I doubt they can transfer it over to another.

quote: depends what hes using it for, if its because of VPNS and such then 9 times out of 10 it uses an IP and not a DNS record.

depends who manages the DNS, he may want to keep th epeople who mange the DNS and just point the domains to different IPs

Surely you'd just change whatever domain you're using to point to the new IP.

Do people actually type the IP address in or can you just transfer the Name Servers (is that right Will?)

Depends what ISP you are moving to? Demon are pretty clued up so they may be able to help you migrate your IP block elsewhere.
