Just remove any wireless devices on the offending PC (if the wireless is inside the case you can go Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>Right click network device and click disable), or if its cabled unplug the network cable

if i shutdown the pc with the virus before i connect to the network with the laptop will it be safe to use the same network?

Yea thats what i meant, use the laptop you are taking round later. Just make sure the infected computer isnt connected to the same network you are logging in to to use the internet :rolleyes:

Sounds similar to what I had - only really let me on sites that I had been on before. Google searches and such were a no no.

I ended up formatting my HDD :lol:

ok i'll try that too. couldn't really search for anything last night as the virus doen't let you. it doesn't let you onto some tech support sites either.

Try doing an AVG scan in 'Safe Mode with Networking'. Might get rid then :)

Yea if you just google the name of the virus / whatever it is there will be someone on the internet who has a good fix for it :)

my dad has managed to get that google re-direct virus on his pc. he has AVG free installed so i did a full scan which seemed to find the virus but it can't remove it. everytime i try it just comes back. can anybody help out with this? cheers :thumbs:
