try turning system restore off, then do a scan. Buggers hide themselves in there and the OS restores them when you remove them.

I've had this, downloaded about 10 different spyware programs and none of them would get rid of it! Had to re-install Windows in the end.

I'll second this.. had it on my desktop. Downloaded every anti virus and anti spyware program under the sun and then eventually formatted my hard disk.

Sorry mate :(

 :(

Bollocks - I'm a persistant bugger, so I won't give up......

Anyone had a similar problem? - I don't really want to format the hard drive :(

Ash_EP3

I've read up on the virus and it says that it attaches itself to either the logon.exe or IEXPLORER.exe I notice that it keeps turning my "automatic updates off" and resetting my cookies "accept all"

Try that, if it doesn't work might be a network virus or similar and worth recovering your machine back to original factory settings.

Also download hijackthis and post up the log will see if I can help.

I've already got Spybot mate ;)

It seems to open random websites when I am on the net (not when I am viewing the desktop)

I have also noticed that the automatic updates keeps being turned off :boggle:

Any more help would be great :)

^^ As above,

Random websites keep popping up when I am on the Internet (IE7) I've ran through Ad-aware, AVG + Ccleaner and it has popped up saying that I have a virus which AVG apparently "heals"

I am pretty sure my little bro has been looking at some dodgy websites and I have noticed that it has found some viruses on his user (cookies)

Help!

edit: It is a Virtumonde Virus  - not the end of the world, just means that internet pages keep popping up every now and again!
