after Tim's recommendation, SSL Explorer - allows you to browse your drive(s), run applications (so VNC etc) through a SSL tunnel (port 443), so not only is it secure, it get's around majority of corporate firewalls.

I've been running it a while as my works connections is locked down, so VNC/logmein is a no go. Apart from one dodgy release (was quickly patched within a day or so) i haven't had any problems with SSL Explorer

Real VNC, free and does the job.

Easiest way I find where you don't need to know your IP, PLUS it bypasses my work firewall, is http://www.logmein.com

Couldn't get any easier.

If you mean to want to remotely connect to your PC from your laptop then do this:

PC:

My Computer \ System Properties \ Remote

Turn on remote access
Lock your computer.

Laptop:

Start \ Programs \ Accessories \ Communications \ Remote Desktop

Enter PC name and password.

I want to be able to setup remote file access from my PC to my laptop over the internet. I don't have a clue on how to do this so I have not idea what to search for on Google

Any hints on how to do this?
