quote: yeah thats quite tidy price. you can get cheaper if you can live without things such as 17" display (go for 15.4" instead) and not have built in webcam would be able to get a better processor then too edit: heres mine --> Linky! if you dont need it for games then you can save a shitload by having onboard graphics [Edited on 31-03-2008 by Demo]

really nice looking laptops, good screen, specs are reasonable - although a friend of mine just had to get the hard drive replaced on warranty as it failed whilst watching a DVD. Sony also replied to him with an apologetic letter and a free cleaning cloth :

I was looking at Sonys and in the end bought a Dell. Specced it up how I wanted and was around £700 cheaper than an equivelant Sony!

Whats a good laptop to go for £500 - £700 will not be used for games!

I don't like them, had a few to fix with the latest one having a bust DVD drive laser out of warranty. Easy enough you'd think to get a replacement?. No, Sony in their wisdom fitted an odd sized height drive that seemed to be around £200 to replace. I got one for a m8 from the US for £80 delivered.

we have one, it's pretty good, a bit slow when you first turn it on though (could be due to how many programs we have on it though).

I've always found they're a few hundred pounds more than the competition and not as well specced for the money.
