theres nowhere in the small print or t+c's that says you have to take out a contract, theres a huge discussion on it at hotukdeals, you pay 300quid for the phone and its yours theres nothing they can do about that, then u just jailbreak it and its unlocked to every network and activated without a contract, pretty simple.

common myth that you need to take out the contract

You can't buy it officially without a contract.

Really? I asked the guy in the shop and he said it's £300, and whatever contract I choose. I said what if I want to buy the phone and he said you can't without a contract :boggle:

I got the Touch a couple of days ago, as I hated the contracts on the iPhone and prefer my phone contract.

Attempting to jailbreak it atm. Almost done it, but it won't download the Unix application which you need, so I gotta restore it and re-do it again.
