You'll prob find it runs cooler without the casing.

Mine gets red hot inside its caddy as theres 0 ventilation or fans.

Put it inside the computer and run the cables though a blanking plate hole into it.

My external harddrive stop working a few weeks ago and after the advice from someone on here i bought ide to usb and power cables, and have taken the external harddrive apart and used these and it worked!!

so now i have the bare harddrive sat on my desk and im thinking this isnt good (im not too hot on computers). Is this definately a bad thing and do i need to get it an enclosure.

If i do, where can i get one cheapest, on ebay are all a tenner ish but that includes the cables which i already have...
