yea, optical will give you surround, the red/white lead will only give you stereo

Don't know if it's the same with PS3's, but with my 360 you need an optical lead to get true surround sound, otherwise you just have L&R.

if your tv has optical out, why do you need to plug it into the ps3? or dont you get true surround sound unless you plug in at the source?

I bought an LG one from Currys. If you're just watching films/listening to music then the packages in Currys etc are fine, if you want a top bollocks system you pay alot more, but it's not needed most of the time, IMO.

Z5400 has 2 optical inputs hence why I went for it
Z5500 was probs a bit big for my room (sub is quite large)

I've got the z5500 and they are fantastic, so i'm sure the z5400's will be great.

I think the z5400 has 2 optical inputs. Could be wrong though. If not it will have a coax input which will do the same thing

pretty sure most surrounds only come with one optical thing but am also a noob when it comes to audio

Optical from PS3 to surround
Optical from TV to surround

Then both are using the surround sound!

(or thats how I'm hoping it works )

Decided to go for this, (Logitech Z-5400) just waiting on it coming now!

Seems to have some good reviews, my boss has its bigger brother the Z5500 in his living room and says its excellent for gaming, so went with this one seen as my room is not on the large size

Optical cable ordered also, make most of the it

one thing tho, it doesnt have an optical in, which would give you full surround on the ps3. it will take the red/white plugs tho.

After a half decent surround set up for my bedroom, mainly for watching blu rays / playing PS3 on!

Not wanting to spend stupid amounts, as have a really good one down stairs.

Upto £150 any one suggest anything, maybe you have one installed on your console.

Not after the DVD player either just sub, speakers, optical input if possible for that price.
