I think Windows MCE looks better. It might not have all the features, but it's got everything you need from a Media Centre. Windows has better driver support, and devices come designed to work with Windows MCE.
Sure, Linux is good, but for MCE, Windows does it better. IMO, of course.

Not sure, but comes with all the networking features i'll be using. I've got a license for it through work.

I'm using it as a PC rather than a fancy Media Centre. Just wanna be able to chill out on the sofa and use a PC without having to get a laptop out and plug it all in. It's just a time factor at the minute.

Enterprise doesn't have Media Centre, does it?
You could connect the Sky+, yes, but you'd still have to change channel with the Sky remote and you'd have no advantage over connecting it to the TV.

Maybe using a TV card.

Personally wouldn't be arsed putting it through your PC. May as well run it sperate through the Sky+ box. Can still use the PC for everything else.

I've just purchased this
http://misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=295158&Sku=140476

Will get it hooked up to a TV when i get around to it. Mine has come with Vista home on a DVD along with XP Pre-Installed. Will eventually go on Vista Enterprise.

You can use a Media Centre computer connected to the TV, or the computer in another room and have an Xbox 360 connected to the TV which streams from the Media Centre. Then you'd have games etc too.

Oh,

Most LCD TV's these days have VGA inputs - USE THAT, not a TV out :P

Sky+ is a box, end of. iTunes, HDD full of films DVD player and internet can come from a PC in a HTPC case with Windows MCE or other 3rd party application.

Have a look oin some HTPC forums - google it, you'll get a good idea :)

After another litlte project.....

I want to be able to have Sky+, iTunes, hard drive full of films, DVD player and Internet all hooked up together to play on a LCD TV in front room, also my projector, and a good quality sound system

Need some ideas as to what kit to but, get a PC with TV card or TV that displays PC etc

Also have a 7" Touch screen TV that I would like to mount in wall to control music (like I used to have in my car)

Diagrams etc most helpful :)

Oh also wireless capability to run music from laptop or wireless outdoor speakers too
