I bought one of their Zyxel Adsl wireless routers for £49.99 for a job the other day and it works really well.

the router will replace the modem, its then configured through the pc.

You wont need to have the PC on once the router is setup (one off setup)

The PS3 will pickup the broadband signal fromt he router.

A decent wireless router is about £50 - 60

PC world curently have a good offer on a Netgear, £69.99 if you pay onlien and collect in shop (or £99.99 in the shop)

how much are routers.

also how would that all be set up, TBH i dont really use PCs so dont know alot.

i take it a router plugs in between the modem and pc im using. The PS3 can pick the signal up from the router and use the same line. Does this mean i have to have my PC on when i want to connect my ps3

nah PS3 has built in wireless, so if you get a wireless router you can use your PC & PS3 online

Chuck that USB crap out the window

or is a router just for using my PC on the net at the same time as the ps3.

also my modem will not allow a ethernet cable to go in it, it just plugs into the back of my tower via usb and has one socket on which is used to connect the modem to the phone socket
