hmmm seems allot for just that imo
Download stuff when your not using the laptop is the answer to doing both ;)

My sister got a HP laptop from comet the other week, 2Gb Ram, Vista Pro, 120Gb HDD, loads of features for about £400 and she will be doing everything you want to do with it.

I just wouldnt spend that much on a Laptop myself, not when thers cheaper things out there that are very good value.

TBH no matter how much you upgrade the laptop, downloading will no doubt be limited by your net speed rather than the laptop!!

Looks a decent spec though.

Defo, I'd always go for dell for VFM, they're every bit as good as anything else. Spec looks good. I''m on a old old school lattitude and it still works ok, need a new one but it does the job, playing & d/l music, films, surfing web etc as cosmo says

Robbo

Aye agreed

Cosmo

Ive had both a Dell and a HP Laptop. Couldnt really fault either of them as both did what I wanted out of them - which wasnt much more than surfing the net, playing DVDs and running Microsoft Office apps.

No point spending mega bucks on a really top spec one if thats all you want.

Robbo

Also, any glaring omissions form thsoe specs?? i.e. missing a sound card or sumam tsilly lol

I've got a Dell :)

Robbo

If anyone can suggest any other options that I should consider (i.e. increased RAM etc. as there are loads of options on the Dell website)

Robbo

posted on 17th Nov 07 at 13:32

OK, unless anyone can give me an excellent reason as to why I should purchase another make over these, then I shall be buying a new Dell laptop... love Dell stuff, never had any problems with their products... I currently am using my parents Dimension 5150 which I specced for them about 18 months ago and it still works as good as it did then and the odl Dimension 3000 I specced almost 3 years ago still works great as well. I also have a very nice Latitude D620 laptop for work (y)

OK... so I ideally want a 17" screen as thats what my work laptop has and its very good... so I've narrowed it down to these two customised specs... the first one seems good to me and at a £120 cheaper (+ it has a carry case that the other one doesn't have!). Basically I will be using it for music, downloaded videos/tv shows etc., some games i.e. FM2008 and then mostly larkign abotu on t'interweb.

What are peoples opinions?
