Think they are about £90. Used mainly for businesses so they can charge for internet access. You can pick up cheaper ones.

Nice little bit of kit though.

Did one of these set ups yesterday at work. Used a device called griffin that allowed the wireless router onto the wired network. The giffin giving out a wireless signal and also using access points for a better signal around the building.

i agree with cosmo, anything like a pc or console, wire it where possible. But if you need wireless then you really need to buy an access point. You could use a router, but anything that connects to it will end up being double NAT'd which isn't a bright idea (it'll work but i can cause headaches).

With an access point, they don't have a built in switches (to connect wired stuff into) unlike a router (ie: you'll have four ethernet ports on the back plus etc), so you will have to set the access point up somewhere where theres a spare wired ethernet/network connection (and power point).

Other than that, AP (access points) are fairly simple to set up

Dont go wireless with the console if your house it networked up, will be much better wired. Only use the wireless where you really have to.

Hello noob question here:

in my house all connected on a LAN with a server in my garage. I have a big blue cable that goes from a plug in my wall to the back of my pc. (how noob am i!)

anyway i want to make it wireless upstairs so i can use my phone, mates laptop and my soon to be purchased console for online gaming.

question is, how? Do i just get a wireless router and plug the blue cable in? Or does it need to come from the server in the garage? Not bothered about downstairs being wifi just upstairs

im clueless. Help!
