Microsoft are now allowing game makers to specify a hdd is needed btw.

Which signals the end for the core imo.

I wish I could be annoyed to find the threads that said this would never happen.

UK, August 20, 2007 - After already announcing Xbox 360 price cuts in North America and Australia, Microsoft has finally announced that the UK is getting a reduction too. As from Friday August 24, the Premium pack will be knocked down by 30 notes to 249.99 GBP and the Core console will cost 179.99 GBP - a saving of 20 quid.

Alongside the reductions, Microsoft also revealed that the Elite, which launches this Friday and comes with a 120GB hard drive and HDMI port, is set to cost 299.99 GBP. Although, if you just want to pick up the larger 120GB hard drive on its own, you can expect to pay 129.99 GBP.

Stephen McGill, head of gaming & entertainment, Xbox UK said: "We're pleased to be able to offer Xbox 360 at a new, lower estimated retail price. We pioneered the successful concept of multiple products for multiple categories of consumer. First-timers will love the Xbox 360 Core system, which offers an affordable entry into high-definition gaming. The Xbox 360 Elite, with its large hard drive and wireless controller, will appeal to casual and experienced gamers and families. The Xbox 360 opens up whole new avenues of entertainment for those who seek the ultimate gaming and entertainment experience."

doubt it will happen. £42.51 is too much of a jump concidering the american price drop for the premium was only $20 (£10). and a 120gb ps3? its 80gb and one, its going to cost $600 which is the same as the current 60gb. Two its only happening in japan and america. sony offical annoucened the 80gb isn't happening in europe.

but on the other hand you can buy a third party 120gb harddrive, 160, 320 or even 500gb hard drive if you wish. for the ps3.

Exactly that, the HD films are massive. Most are at least 5gb.

Microsoft is cutting the price of its Xbox 360 video game console in Europe, weeks after doing the same in the US.

From 24 August, the 20 gigabyte hard drive model will cost 349.99 euros (£237.49), 50 euros less than now.

And the price of the less advanced 360 core model, without a hard drive, will fall by 20 euros to 279.99 euros.

Microsoft, facing stiff competition in the market from Nintendo and Sony, also revealed plans to launch a 120 gigabyte model, costing 449.99 euros
