When they said it holds back the game, they meant the lack of storage space for core systems, not because of anything else.

but the game doesnt run from the HDD so how will it affect it:boggle:

ren, the 9gb dvd is holding it back

shot, the cd can put cache files onto a harddrive to help performance.

Link to proof? Its already been established that they meant because not everyone that owns the 360 has the premium console, they have to change/manage the game for the 3% of tight bastards that didnt fork out for the full system.

On a different note, its weird how everyone is bragging about Blu-Ray. 50GB is alot i agree, but considering it uses lazy compression compared to DVD's, it probably doesnt have THAT much of a leap in terms of storage space.

um release it on more than one disk lol, like they have done with blu-dragon already thats a 3-4 disk game cant remeber exactly.

sounds like a pointless argument really.

the sotrage space of one 9gb dvd will easily outlast both consoles, its not really an decent argument saying blu ray disks can hold more for games

it would take a rather large game to fill up the 360 discs, i dont see a problem with making it a 2 disc game either if need be.

bring it out on more than one disc for the 360, problem solved.

This will change. It will be if you want to play the game, you have to get the hard drive. Im sure not THAT many core systems were sold compared to premiums. Also if microsoft looked at their figures of how many HDDs were sold separately, they would know how many would be without. A small percentage id say.

The DVD storage could be a problem, but maybe MS were expecting everyone to buy a HD DVD add on drive, or maybe developers would use the drive to develop larger games? (i dont know if the HD DVD drive can run games in the future)

Shouldn't be an issue in the forseeable future though as when the elite comes out microsoft may get rid of the core package and make the premium 'the new core' system and all xbox's then will have a HDD. just a guess but it could happen :look:

Rockstar says Microsoft's console is limiting the game's progress

US, May 3, 2007 - Lately we've seen several examples of publishers and developers favoring the Xbox 360 over the PlayStation 3. Some developers have complained that the PS3 is difficult to develop for, and top publishers have been making previously Sony-exclusive games available on Microsoft's console, where the install base is much higher. But one high-profile developer is sticking up for the PS3.

An interview with the UK's Official PlayStation Magazine reveals that Rockstar's creative VP Dan Houser believes the 360 is impairing the development of Grand Theft Auto IV. According to the magazine's online partner, Computer and Videogames, Houser says the lack of a guaranteed hard drive and the smaller storage space of the DVD format is limiting the game's progress. In contrast, all PS3s have a built-in hard drive and the console's Blu-Ray format can hold about five times as much content as DVD.

Houser does admit that of the two consoles, "both have enormous challenges," and "both have their own particular pleasures and pains."

"To be honest with you we haven't solved all those riddles yet," Houser explained.

GTAIV is scheduled to ship simultaneously for the 360 and PS3 on October 17.

the only reason i post is because i recall someone saying dvd9 will have more than enough space for this generation of games. I guess its not all true eh
