you have you primary domain for your host (which should work), then extra domains you have (well should) park them with your hosting etc

with 1and1, open up the control panel select your domain name (instant domain registration, i think its called, should be in a table, list your domains under your account etc). Select the domain, will take you to your "administrations" page, select "Domains", should get a page called "Domain Overview".

You domain(s) should be listed, select your domain (place a check next to the one you want to edit), click the down-arrow next to "DNS", select "EDIT Dns Settings" from the drop down.

"Basic DNS Settings" - "Name Server" should be "my name server" (change it from the drop down if it isn't.
Then add your primary and secondary nameservers from your hosting into the primary and secondary text boxes (might have to select "my secondary name server" from the secondary server drop down box before you can add your 2nd nameserver).

Click save and you should be done

From there it should start pointing towards your hosting, though you might have to "park" it, which will be a settings somewhere in your hosting control panel. With my hosting, using cPanel (control panel) its called "Parked Domains". In there, i just type in the domain i have point, www.fred.com (etc) and click add, and it then sorts it all out

This is a screenshot from my hosting at Easily.co.uk

The settings you put in will obviously relate to the server you are hosting with.

ive been told to do this i need to change the 'A record'? is this correct. ive bought the domain names through 1and1 now. can anyone help me out?

if you have multiple domains, set the nameservers to point to your hosting then within cPanel (or the likes) there should be the option to park a domain name. Type in the domain, ie: www.frank.co.uk and it will point to your hosting just like your main domain

edit - most hosting companies will allow you to just purchase a domain. 1 and 1 (.co.uk) are the cheapest for .co.uk domains (4 quid for 2 years)

just point the domain to the same ip

if your shared hosting, point the domain to the same folder within your document root if the admin panel works like that.
