An lcd tv displaying text is different from a crt tv displaying text.

yeah 19" would be wicked for a monitor but really i want 23" for tv... not sure on black or white yet...

s-video is one of the worst connections you can use for this sort of thing.

If your TV doesn't have a VGA input on it then use the yellow video in connection.

but its not so good for all uses as you say innit... i connected it to my old tv via s-video -> component and whilst it was fine for watching mpgs you couldnt really read anything on screen

use a VGA to VGA connection if your TV has that. You might have to fiddle with the settings on the TV to get it looking right (sometimes the colours can be off and the image won't fill up all of the screen).

Otherwise the graphics card will be fine. I connect my laptop to the LCD and watch videos no probs. HD content can be a bit slow sometimes though.

i have my pc connected to my plasma using a dvi cable. do you have a dvi port on your graphics card?

It would be used more as , a storage device with all my Dvd's loaded onto it etc.. and the net and msn for use now and again

TV's are often no good for reading stuff off of as they are designed to be looked at from a distance.

Im thinking about getting a 27inch samsung LCD , later on next year i was thinking about getting another pc and rigging it up. Will my new pc have to have a Graphics card? or would it be best to just buy a media centre?

TVs are a bit funny about running different resolutions, compared to monitors which are designed to work at many different resolutions. There's the refresh rate to take into account if you're using a VGA connection, too.

providing the graphics card you have isnt good enough, it wont damage the screen will it?

Then yeah, the 5200 should be able to handle it. You might want to think about an upgrade to the card though for better performance if you're using it for games.

It depends what resolution the TV supports, and which card it is.

I've got a 19" Monitor/PC, just uses the usual VGA cable to connect it to the PC.

Not sure on the graphics card question though.

firstly what cable do i need to connect to PC? is it just the usual monior connection, but on both ends? also if i was to get a 23" widescreen TV... is my 128Mb gfx card gonna be able to handle it and keep the resolution lookin nice?
