yup buy 1080 if your gonna buy one now, cause most new sets are being updated to that spec (i work in electrical retail lol)

sony 'W' series , toshiba 'WLT68' series and philips 'PF9731d' series(i think) is some that offer the 1080 spec.

the codes above arn't the full model numbers its just the category they fall into ;)

LCD'S will eventually take over plasma's and they are getting better and better, but at this moment in time on larger screens plasmas tend to give a smoother picture and keep up with fast moving objects better i.e watching football.

Another thing u need to look into is how far your actually gonna be sat from the set? if your quiet close then again plasma will be a better option. if your sat a good distance u can get away with a LCD cause your eyes tends to blend the image together and u don't see it pixelate.

if you can afford it Steve get an LCD that supports a 1080p HD resolution. You won't need to buy another TV for ages.

SD = standard definition. I.e what you're watching on your TV now.

HD = High Def (obviously)

CRTs = old style TVs, the large ones that took up shoot loads of space :lol:

none of that made a lick of sense :lol:

my mum and dad got a 32" LG LCD not long ago. HD content on it is amazing, not too sure on SD pictures though.

That's where other makes like the Sony excel. Being able to produce really good SD pictures on a par with most CRTs. :thumbs:

was gonna go for LG.. as i found out that they make 80% of the screens on the market.

Pioneer, Sony etc etc use LG screens.

A lot of people will argue that LCDs are better than Plasma. I'd agree to an extent. Plasmas will soon be phased out anyway. Black reproduction on LCDs is getting a lot better, as are the contrast/brightness issues. The Sony Bravia offers really good picture quality and all the connections you need to connect things like HD DVD, 360 etc...

That Philips seems pretty good, though you could get better makes for your money.

i'd have LCD over plasma, look at toshiba, samsung and sony mate, play.com have some good deals
