I have found one open relay server, but you have to pay for it. Pain in the arse. They have just blocked the only one that works at uni and I really don't want to go back to webmail

you wont be able to use your own email address on another random smtp server.
you can only use email addresses that are set up on any smtp server.

what your asking is impossible, unless you can find an open relay server

I don't have a G-Mail account. I need to be able to use my Uni e-mail address too for certain things.

Is there such thing as a free SMTP server that I can use? Can't be a piece of software because the internet providers firewall is more protective than the one at Thames House  It's really beginning to annoy me that my Uni gives us IMAP usage, but no SMTP and Squirrelmail is the biggest load of bollocks in the world ever
