Will changing my modem increase this? At the minute i am using the standard Tiscali one.

Im with Tiscali and its shite :(

yeah if its just P2P then its not a true measure if your speed as it depends on how many people are sharing it. Only thing I would say about Tiscali though is i know they restrict their traffic, so you quite often get poor speeds anyway on P2P. If you want to see if you line is working properly, close all teh P2Ps and try one or all of the following sites to get an estimate...

www.testmy.net
www.beelinebandwidthtest.com
www.lando.co.uk and download something off there, its hosted on a university server and i know ive had 800kB/s+ off there from home

P2Ps mate...

im on 2.2Mb but hardly ever get better rates than 5Kb/s... so i wouldnt worry.

what do you get from severs, i always get 200Kb/s on server downloads. that way you can work out whether its the programs, or your connection which is the problem

I used Azureus, BitComet and Limewire. The speed only varies slightly.

I joined in January.

Good thing is I haven't paid them. They don't take their money :D

Any ideas apart from that?

Step one, get as far away from tiscali as possible. I know it sounds sarcastic but if you just joined them then you have a cooling off period!
