Sorted it, turns out the DVD player set up wasn't on 5.1. So a few changes later and its working perfectly :cool: | |

Also noticed there is a Test Tone button on the remote, will try that first. | |

and in these surround systems, sometimes you can increase te volume of the individual speakers and run a test to see if all the speakers are properly connected and working | |

Yeah had the unit itself on 5.1, the fronts and center were crystal, just no rear sound or sub sound. | |

normally sony has the mode select for the sound on the remote itself. mine has it | |

I just put the cable that came with it back on and moved the sub closer to the amp. | |

I used cable that was slightly too thick on my parents sony all in one dvd/amp/reciever and it cut off for over current or something. | |

Right, basically my parents have a 5.1 Sony amp reciever but its never been used to its potential as only the 2ch DVD connections were used. So i've bought a Phono 5.1 audio cable to connect the 5 speakers and 1 sub from the amp to the dvd player. Whacked a DVD on but only the front 3 speakers were working. The cables are connected correctly, rear L to rear L, rear R to rear R...... etc. But the rears aren't giving out any sound, nor is the sub. Can't see why, because the sub is connected to the amp and gives out sound when I switch the mode to 2 channel. |
