I attempted one with a far too big bit.
Made quite a mess.
I then watched a guy doing it and it was actually a needle he was using.
Looked like he had filed a bit down himself.

I tried to file one down, didnt work though coz the actual soldering tip is just a lead alloy tip injected into a hollow case - once you file too far it just goes through to the tip casing... Although the smaller tips (while not needing filing if you already have a needle point) are probably solid.

I wasn't confident of soldering something onto the board, so use the swapmagic, bit of hassle, but easier than messing up your playstation.

That swapdisk thing is ok if you get the openlid case instead of the standard one - all seems a bit complicated to me. Much rather just solder a new chip in.

lol, I had mine fitted almost 2 years ago now...maybe more...works a treat, I'll have to get the name of it....so long I can;t remember it

no swapping discs etc...plays all.

Can anyone recommend from experience which one they are finding the best?

Im looking at installing very possibly the latest Matrix Green Dot but there are a lot of price differences throughout the modchip range. Good thing about the Matrix is it has 512kb of flashable memory for all future software versions.

Ben.
