I got 356 movies and 1350GB to play with, but no need to burn to DVD when my PC is connected to HD projector, may as well save the space for more films etc  (Only got 450GB spare too, rest is full of TV eps, music, documentaries and some porn  )

quote: Why?, I have 17 movies to watch currently taking about 75GB :( but I have 500GB to play with :), some peeps won't be bothered about the files size. Plus they can be burned straight to DVD when I like and I know they'll be DVD quality when I pop round to a mates.

Aren't the TS files the same size as the original DVD though? If its for "home movies" then you may as well compress them?

you can copy the vob files straight from the dvd, but the space will be 4-8gigs etc Otherwise you can rip it, but it will take around 24hrs after doing multipasses and encoding it (some threads about this aswells as dvdrhelp.com)....or just grab a copy from the special shop if you're really worried about size
