I got 356 movies and 1350GB to play with, but no need to burn to DVD when my PC is connected to HD projector, may as well save the space for more films etc  (Only got 450GB spare too, rest is full of TV eps, music, documentaries and some porn  )

Why?, I have 17 movies to watch currently taking about 75GB :(
but I have 500GB to play with :), some peeps won't be bothered about the files size. Plus they can be burned straight to DVD when I like and I know they'll be DVD quality when I pop round to a mates.

you can copy the vob files straight from the dvd, but the space will be 4-8gigs etc Otherwise you can rip it, but it will take around 24hrs after doing multipasses and encoding it (some threads about this aswells as dvdrhelp.com)....or just grab a copy from the special shop if you're really worried about size

takes more like 6-8 hours to rip a high quality avi

DVD Shrink will rip the DVD files to your Hardrive to Video_TS + Audio_TS folders in about 40mins-1.5 hours :boggle:

Any decent dvd playback software like WinDVD 7 will play the DVD back from these files directly from the HD.

I use Ahead DVD Ripper, piece of piss to use and once its set up it does perfect copies. I can encode in about real time on the highest setting with AMD 4000+ 64 bit

How do you do this so I can watch the DVD from my harddrive instead of carrying the disks about :boggle:
