Also because it sounds like youve done ftp's before, it wont take long to setup and use. And also should be faultless

just setup FTP access.. very good.. very simple!

if you dont have VPN access then FTP is gonna be the best option.

i have 3 network storage devices on our internal network.
I would like to be able to access them when im at home, when im anywhere else etc.

We dont have a 'server' or any VPN access, but we do have a standalone machine.

Would anyone have any recommendations?

I was thinking of setting up a FTP server, sharing the necesary folders and setting a username/password.
what do you think?
