AMD's work harder per clock cycle, hence they have only just broken the 3ghz barrier with the FX62, but its equiv to an Intel 4.4 ghz

ah right, cheers

AMD's are the best to go for now.

There has just been a HUGE price drop on amd processors.

check out where i work:
www.gladiatorcomputers.com

Should have an up to date list on cheap OEM skt 939 processors.

I would stick with AMD at the mo mate even tho conroe is looking good the prices on the skt 939's are too good.

could i get a cheaper case with at least 450W psu? Im reallynot fussed about what the thing looks like on the outside.

Also i got told this when I asked about amd equivalent

At stock (1.86GHz) the E6300 is roughly the equivilant of an AMD X2 4400+, if you overclocked it from stock to 2.4GHz, then it'd be about the same performance of an FX60

Yep, get a socket 393 mobo with a nice AMD cpu, I'd also go for a nVIDIA gfx card but that's just me, I'm a AMD & nVIDIA man.
393? :o

I'd personally get the case my (soon to be) ex wife got just before she left, we both upgraded, I went for a Thermaltake as I wanted the adjustable fans and disaply etc, she went for a Gigabyte one (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=250635).
Upon swapping the two systems cases I founf the Thermaltake one to be shoody quality compared to the Gigabyte one, ok hers doesn't have adjustable fan speeds and a cool digital display but it's so well put together!
But saying that the Gigabyte case is about the same price as yours, just saying that for build quality they are really really good imo.
