AMD is the only choice really. best bang for your buck. Budget user, look at Socket A, although no longer supported, you can still get massive performance for very little money. the 3200XP Barton cores w/ 512k L2 can still be overclocked past 2.5ghz, which would put nearly all Intel's to shame.

depends on what you're using it for. Best bang for your buck I would recommend the AMD Opteron 146. Can be massively overclocked too

quote: that was the 24th of June fella. Check it out, there is reductions all over town. hence the deal above. It mainly applies to the AM2 chips, but the 939's have also came down.

i would not buy any CPU's for atleast a month. AMD are trying to lower there prices to match Intel and Intel are dropping there prices on the 24th.

well for 90 quid you can have a dual processor that keep up with the fx-57 let alone a single core 4000 ;)

intel D 805 (90 quid or so) is currently the better processor, dual core and can be clocked from its standard 2.6Gigs to 3.6Gigs with air cooling, water cooling can see 4gigs - its meant to be perform better than the AMD fx-57 (which is about 3/400 quid) and top end intel processor around the same price area.
