There is a chance that that's the highest speed your line will support......however, more likely, your profile on AOL's (or, more likely, BT's own) BRAS (wonderful acronym - Broadband Remote Access Server) has been set to 2Mbps and needs releasing to try to match the trained sync-speed...

So yes, I'd give AOL a call...

go and test your speed at adslguide.org and see what it gives you.

aol upgraded my service so i can download up to 8mb speed. in my status on my modem software it has that my download rate is 7616kbps and upload rate is 448kbps. i am achieving my upload rate but my download rate has not changed from the 2mb connection i originally had.

i thought the software detected what speed i am currently receiving?

should i ring them to see if something is still being done to my service? i live about 1/2 a mile from my exchange so i thought my speed would increase from my 2mb connection.
