Sony/samsung is a joint venture making lcd panels.
A good one from people who think they know is 'oh samsung make sony panels, that means samsung must be at least as good as the sony'.

The audio from surround sound is fantastic.

yeah they do. Not sure why. Granted their audio stuff isn't that great but everything else (and especially the LCDs) are top notch.

Can someone donate me some money please? :|

I didn't know their lcd's had a bad reputation.

To be honest most lcd/plasmas are pretty good, most are made by Sony in Japan anyway!!..

Yip people don't realise how much better they are and quite a lot of people slag off sony lcd's for some reason :boggle:
It seems to be people who can't afford them I think.
I don't think I would buy a crt now.
I still have one but if I was buying a tv it would have to be lcd.

Sony are quality though, especially the Bravias. And now that I've seen them in action it makes me want one even more.

Well find the Sony you like then buy an other brands equivalant as it will be £100 less!

Similar to my setup mate. 32" Trinitron flatscreen hooked up to a Denon DHT-500SD

I just want a bigger telly and now one that takes up masses of room!!

i've been looking at the 40" Sony Bravias but don't think I could justify the £1700 price tag :( would love one though. Saw one in the Sony Centre yesterday and it was just stunning.

Save up and get a good 37", won't be that much differance in size and its pointless buying a cheap widescreen if you plan on watching films.

Samsung out of those.

I'm stuck on whether to get a cheap(ish) 40" TV or wait and save up a bit more and get a good quality 37" :( Have about £900 to spend at the moment.

Yeh but i cant really warrent spending anymore than £550 on a TV mate. Can also get £25 more off the Hitachi so its only £475

They are all a couple of generations old.

The Toshiba gets fairly average star ratings from Comet.

The Hitachi doesn't seem too bad.
