AMD is popular among gamers but for performance, nothing can beat Intel esp the Core Duo imo

As mentioned above, i also tend to go for AMD over Intel. just a preference.
If you choose intel, just keep away from celerons, and if you choose AMD try to keep away from sempron.

Personally, if your going to go all out, go for the X2 socket 939 :)

or give it a month or two and get it when the prices come back down to earth.

I've just started some gaming with my AMD system. It uses an ASUS mobo which overclocks itself when it needs to if I have it turned on. It's amazing, I've never had a computer that's been able to handle 3D graphics so well! I guess my GPU helps a lot too. I'm very impressed :cool:

lets be honest, most people wouldnt know the difference using an intel system compared to an amd system, only people that do raw processing, ie: CAD, 3D, Graphics, Video Editing, Music etc will notice that Intels are generally better, though you pay for it.

Saying that though, its been said that for games etc AMD systems are better...so it depends on what youre after.

My next system will be a Intel Dual Core, just for the fact that i want to run OSX as well and OSX on AMD systems is flakey :thumbs:

I have an AMD 64 bit San Diego. It's a socket 939 and does a very good job. However, I have never used it in 64 bit mode :lol:

You're best off looking at dual core if you want the lates technology though.

I'm with however offers best value for money at the time i'm buying parts.
Thats never been intel yet but i'll swap between ati and nvidia depending on who has the vfm.
Vfm doesn't mean cheap btw, if somethin is expensive but worth it i'd still class that as vfm.

AMD over Intel, graphics wise, I like both. I only went with Nvidia cos of SLi. My ATi cards have been good previously though

im an AMD ATi man personally. hate they way companies team up with nvidia on games with gay "optomised for nvidia card" messages.

also could someone tell me from worst to best, a list of processor types ie Pentium 4, celeron d etc cos i dont actually know which is best.
