delete your windows profile mate, have a few problems like this at work different users using different machines etc, delete all profiles bar the admin ones and the folders and hidden folders of which everything is kept and then try to set it up again

That's what the MS Support pages say about Outlook 2002 (it uses some of the install-files for Outlook Express to work properly), but not about Outlook 2003......could be the case, though, try reinstalling Outlook Express (yes, I know you're not using it, but it may work along the same principles as Outlook 2002 and use some of the OE install-files).

I have used 2 different office 2003 disks all from mircosoft as part of the partners program so i think the changes are slim. of them both being fucked.

Try doing a "Detect and Repair" on Outlook. If that doesn't work, try
reinstalling Outlook - your problem is an installation problem.

Apparently.

I am runing office 2003 and windows xp pro, all latest service packs downloaded.

though i am having a problem connecting to out outlook it use to work before i reformated and rebuilt.

pop3 settings are correct
smtp settings are correct
and username and password are correct.

when i try and use it i get the error message 'Reciving reported error (0x80040154) unknow error 0x80040154'

I thought it might be a problem with the pop3 server but as a tempory solution I am running thurderbird and emails download correct.

I tried switching off virus and firewall software but still to no avail ergo i am lost.

Any ideas?
