Does it say it needs a specific version of directX? You'll likely be running a MUCH more recent version of it, through Windows, and the game doesn't recognise the newer version as being valid (since it won't have existed when the game was brought out).

i know its an old game but i love it, tried installing champ man 01-02 on my new pc and it says to play it i need to ensure service pack 3 is installed as champ man 01-02 needs direct x.
can anyone help.
it worked fine on my laptop and ran on windows xp, new pc is on windows xp too.
