NEC has excellent writing speed and I've never got any trouble with them...I used it on a Dell:thumbs: though I have tried the philips

All easy and possible, uy the pioneer and open the cases, all will be obvious.

Just keep the jumper positions the same.

I want to add a DVD writer to my computer so that I can backup all of my songs/films etc.

I've got 2 Dell computers, the first is a 3000 and the second is a 1100

The first computer has a cd writer and the second has just a dvd rom. I want to add a DVD writer to the computer that has the cd writer as it gets the most use.

I'm thinking about this Pioneer DVR-111DBK unit on ebuyer. Would it be suitable?

Also would it then be possible to replace the dvd rom in second computer with the cd writer from the first?

Hopefully the above won't have confused you as much as it confused me!
