At the risk of sounding very dumb.....

How do I tell the difference? will it be written on it? Never done anything with HDD's before

I'd open it and find out if it's IDE or SATA before you buy a drive.

Right I just bought a portable HDD off loafofbrett but its only 40GB

I was thinking about buying something like a 120gb drive to put in there instead.
What sort of price should I be paying? Where are good places to buy from?
What makes are better than others?

Will put this 40gb one into my PS2 or something
