Remote desktop to your computer, and put a bloody big sign on it saying 'if this is locked its because I'm connected remotely, locked is not the same as logged off, don't turn the power off in order to log yourself in as this will madden me greatly'.

Not like I'm speaking from experience or anything.

Just use Hotmail :look:

The systems go down randomly here  Bloody kids   Plus, the staff never check their e-mails  So, if i can have all e-mails delivered that are not in the Inbox on a particular system. And, i can delete them manually off the server.

^^^ That's the kind of thing i'm after.

hmm.. im wondering if its easier to setup a re-direct/forwarding on that account?
either via an exchange server or from your ISP?

im not sure you could justify the money involved it getting the exchange server/SBS for copy the emails to 5 other people?

Im sure you could let all of the computers share the same .pst file, but might be a bit risky, and possibly end up buggering your .pst file.

id look into forwarding it from that main account?

To be honest it sounds like you should just enable "leave on server" in the POP3 mailbox configuration, or place the data file on a network location.

I'd probably go with the 2nd option as at least there's only one copy of your mailbox (rather than effectively having a copy of your mailbox on every machine). Plus you'd benefit from your sent-items, and other folders being maintained no matter which machine you were on.

Tim, it's one e-mail account that i want to be able to access on several computers. BUT, if the e-mails have not been downloaded to that computer then for them to be downloaded.

Probably looking at 10 computers, saves me forwarding them on all the time.

if your thinking about it, it might be worth waiting for Vista Server edition.
I think prices are set to drop all round.

Ok I lie. Standard edition with 5 CALs is £400. 5 additional CALs is £250...

but dont forget to mention Tim, if he buys SBS there will be a user licence price slapped on top for everyone who will be part of that? (i think).
having exchange server is the way, i wish we had it myself. but its a bit cost to impliment and a big system if you have never used it.

With exchange server, everyones store folder will be stored on the server, so its easier for backing up purposes.

also Andrew, when you say 'server' do you mean actual PC, or just network storage?

Tim

Buy it seperately. Or just get Small Business Server which includes it.

Proper Exhange is about £800. SBS is around £250 and includes some other useful bits and bobs.

How many people use Outlook etc in your office? Exchange server will also allow for other centralised stuff like the calendars and contacts.

Or yeah as Bart says you could put your outlook data file on a network share

exchange server is something seperate.
you need to go to File -> Data & File management and create a new folder and save it to your network area if you dont have Exchange server.
then go to Tools -> Accounts and set your account to use your new data file.

make sure you look at your current data folder, and backup the .pst file before you do anything.

Where do i find Exchange server. Does it come with Outlook or do i need to purchase it sep?

Cheers Tim.

Yes -- install Exchange server.

Or just check the box 'leave on server' for your POP3 configuration (so each machine will download their own copy, but won't delete it from the mailbox). Exchange is a much better solution though.

Is it possible to store my e-mails on a sever so that i can access the e-mails from a few other computers using Outlook 2003?
