Ahh I missread it as you having 5 somehow.
I think you'll have a problem using them as the Mobo has 4 slots (2x2channels) but there has to be an equal amount of memory per channel, so the only way I can see you'd be able to do it is by putting the 1gb in the primary channel and the 2x512 in the secondary but even then that might not work - oh and all rams bust be the same speed.
In mine I have 4x512 DDR400 (pc3200), I used to have 2x512 (one in each channel) then got two more and just filled up the two channels.
It's a very odd (and frustrating) way that the ram works on these boards and the instruction manual says one thing then on the next page says the opposite - so be prepared for fun times!

The A8N has 4 ram slots so you won't be able to put all 5 sticks in.
Otherwise the spec looks good although I would recommend a nVIDIA gfx card over a ATi everyday of the week.
IMO you can't beat AMD CPU's with nVIDIA gfx cards.

sounds good, make sure ram is all the same bus speeds, also, for around £100 you could probably look at a Geforce GT6800 ;)

i'm also facing a dilemma with ram,
I've got 1.3gb of PC2700 (333mhz) ram, and i'm not too sure if i should keep that for a newer m/b + chip or get ram with faster rates.

You might have to reinstall it as last time I upgraded all the major components XP refused to boot. You can simply do a "Repair" so that it keeps all your files programs and settings, though.

i've been advised not to, plus i've already got normal XP as it is. I'm hoping to get away without reinstalling everything....

two 512s, a 256 and a 1gb.
All the old ram is ok and the new motherboard has four slots so seems silly to waste it

My power supply went haywire and its blown the motherboard and CPU. As a result, I need a new power supply, motherboard and CPU and a graphics card as the fan on the old one was knackered (and its an AGP card). It was previously a socket 754 AMD 2800Mhz.
