Bit of a bonus, the DVD player I purchased comes with a free HDMi cable.

 Cheers for the info.

I've just had a look on empiredirect there.
Price has went up since last week.
Was well under 900.
I'll find out exactly what it was.
There are some overscan issues with hdmi-dvi.
Just use hdmi-hdmi.
Only video afaik yip.
Really good tv though.
Had some hd demos on it and they look amazing.

And does HDMI relay video and sound or just video? I'm thinking just video.

Sorry for the questions, I just want it to be set up as good as possible to get the most from it.

Coolio, I only went to comet and linked to Comet page as it was on my bookmarks and I wanted to see it for real first.

Bought the Samsung DVD-HD950 DVD player (HDMI).

Now which connection is best:

HDMI ---- HDMI
or
HDMI ---- DVI

Cheers for that link John

empiredirect is the cheapest place.
And they have it in stock, which most people don't.

Cosmo

Thats the TV I have my eye on. Real tempted to buy it, was in Comet today but I didn't buy. Decided to think on it.

Off to Richer Sounds in a bit to get a new DVD player and Subwoofer.

RGB Scart is about as good as you're gonna get on a regular TV although some older TVs aren't wired for RGB. S-video is pretty crap - i dont rate it much better than regular scart to be honest. But the step up from S-Video/Scart to RGB Scart is quite noticeable....

Not sure my TV supports Component or RGB. It's basic as fuck. Will be gone soon in favour of a decent LCD with the right connections.

This should clear things up... listed in order of quality, best first. Analog connections only.

Component
RGB Scart
S-Video
Composite Scart

Which cable is better to use between a DVD player and a TV, S video or Scart? I'm thinking it's S video but wouldn't mind the opinions of people in the know.
