quote: Wouldn't agree with you on this one - WHen you say a good digital signal - care to expand on this - DO you mean DVD or breadcast? Both Freeview & Sky compress most channels quite a lot. BBC is often quite good. Watching a film in HD is much better than PAL i.e. Spiderman2 the pictures are WAY crisper than even the DVD. I get the feeling you have not seen enough HD footage to realise how good it is. As for the LCDs in dixons currys not being any good, OK they are not 1920x1080 but some of them are still very impressive i.e. the current Samsung 26/32/40" range is good. (The one MS are using to promo the XBox360) Don't rely on stuff you see in any shops, including manufacturers demos. A friend is an editor and was commisioned to produce a new HD demo to show off screens as the ones that some of the manufactures had made were crap i.e. theres a Philips one which he showed me in full HD, then he showed one he had done and it looked much better.

I think Plasma and LCD have still got a hell of a long way to go to be worth paying over a grand for.

LMAO, you guys are under an illusion that HD is the same as going from B&W to Colour. A good digital transmission isnt much different to HD. Yeah the picture is a wee bit crisper but other than that its not really noticable. IMO the LCD's you find at your local Dixons/Currys etc is rather poor, with very edgy display, more suited to PC applications than HD transmission
