How much do you think I'd get for the voda one second hand? I've just spoken to them and they're going to email me the unlock code for free within 48 hrs :D

quote: Complete contridiction there :look: The way how it works is: BB5 handsets have had a security upgrade, if you want it unlocked you need to contact the network the phone is locked too. Voda can only unlock voda, orange can only unlock orange. Now this is usually country specific also, eg UK orange cant unlock France Orange phones. Each network is given a smartcard which is required to calculate these codes when inserted into official nokia equipment (which aint cheap). This is why they can do them. Its not like dct4 where nokia equipment avaliable at service centres could rebuild the simlock information. The people who make the unlocking equipment 99% of the time copy nokias ideas, files, algorythms etc etc. This is why no one has cracked the unlocking on bb5, as there is nothing for them to copy. Service centres can easilly "loose" equipment for developers, but networks dont let such things happen. Hope this clears somethings up :) Alternativly if you have 20 pcbs you can send them to some where in europe and they will do them think its 40 euros each. But this is alot of headache for one phone and you dont know if it will come back. Allegidly people are claiming to be able to do it in birmingham and london, but none of this is confirmed and most of them are full of sh*t :D

It is INPOSSIBLE to unlock this remotely (Cable or by code). There is no way to at all to do it. Only way as is mentioned is for the network provider to do this!

ah shit, takes about two weeks to get the code from vodafone apparently. Can I get it unlocked via cable at a mobile shop/market stall I've already tried a few code that start #pw123......# but just read somewhere that you can only make 5 attempts and the then you can only unlock the phone via cable, does this mean that the vodafone cable won't either?

just phone up vodafone and ask to have the unlocking code requested costs £20 but as of now that seems to be the only way to do it looking over a few websites
