NTL/Telewest contracts are 12 months, but you can break out of them if you are moving house (which you will be) and into an area they don't currently serve... (good ole small print ;) )

It is NOT, repeat NOT, unlimited if the ISP restrict what you can download......and they have, this week, released that the £21.99 account is capped to 100GB per month (total) and 30GB per month (peak-time)......go over this, and (and I'll make this bold so it's noticeable) PlusNet WILL restrict your download speed to 67Kbps (yes, that's right, just over dial-up speeds)!

Avoid, at all costs, even if they were the last ISP on Earth (which they aren't)!

The house has a BT line but the area is also served by NTL

I'm on NTL at home and been really impressed by it, think the minimum term is 12 months tho :(

not sure where I read it - but it said 'Soon NTL 10mb will be the standard... merely the different packages will be different bandwidth amounts... so that you can tailor it too how much you need.

they said all services will be upgraded by late 2006... but starting with 3mb early in 2006.

but none of these work on a NTL line ;(

Use NTL broadband then -- I always found cable much more stable than ADSL anyway... plus you can get 3Mbit...

(Although I'm not sure what NTL are like -- I was always on Telewest).

Ntl is good, im on the 3MB, and never have problems.... only when trying to get thru to customer services lol

I read they're upgrading the 3MB to 10MB soon.

wow tell me more, not sure on pay monthly tho

Need to sort out broadband at my new house when I get back to uni.

What ISPs offer broadband without a 12 month contract (will only be there until May) and who do you recommend or advise to stay clear of?

Cheers
