Maybe because the games are graphics intensive = more heat being generated by the graphics chip or whatever it's called on a laptop?

Weird thing is it doesn't do that if I'm running loads of things in Windows normally.

The only thing I have running apart from the game is ZoneAlarm, MSN (but logged out), and various icons for wireless networking, bluetooth, power, and so forth.

How can I tell if it's overheating? It does seem quite hot when I touch the base of the laptop... :o

Whenever I try to play a game on my laptop such as Sim City 4 or Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, my laptop seems to just switch itself off after about 5 minutes?

Both games look like they are run in some kind of DOS mode I think.

And it's not that Windows shuts down, the whole thing just switches itself off instantly like I've removed the battery or something?!

My laptop is running Windows XP SP2.

Any ideas?
