I have both mate, Xbox live and the Playstation Servers are pretty good, Never had a problem playing anyone in the NFSU servers on PS2 they used to be packed!

Both are as good as each other but dont like the fact that a subsciption has to be made... just means more money in the greedy cunts pockets!

Guide to getting your PS2 Online,

What you’ll need

1. Network Adaptor (Ethernet) (for PS2)
1. Network Cable
1. ADSL/Cable Modem
1. PC
1. Router
1. PS2
1. Television
1. Network Access Disc (comes with Network adaptor for PS2)
1. Memory Card (8MB for PS2)
1. Television

Three ways to Connect


Direct Connection

1. Turn off your Playstation 2, and your Cable/ADSL modem
2. Insert A straight through network cable into your Cable/ADSL modem
3. Insert the other end of the same network cable into your Network adaptor
4. Turn on your Playstation , insert the Network Access disc and Follow the on-screen instructions


Router Connection

1. Turn off your Playstation 2, Cable/ADSL modem, router and your Computer
2. Insert a Straight through network cable into your Cable/ADSL modem and the other end into a free port on your router
3. Insert a Second straight through network cable into a free port on your Router and into your Playstation 2’s Network Adaptor
4. Insert a third straight through network cable into another free port on your router and into your computers network card.
5. Switch on your Cable/ADSL modem, Then your router and then your Computer (PC)
6. Check your Computer can access the Internet via your router
7. Turn on your Playstation 2, insert the Network Access Disc and follow the on screen Instructions


ICS Connection

1. Turn off your Playstation 2, your Cable/ADSL modem and your Computer (PC)
2. Insert a straight through network cable into your Cable/ADSL modem and into one of your computers free network cards
3. Insert a Crossover cable into the second of your computers free network cards and into your and into your Playstation 2’s Network Adaptor
4. Switch on your Cable/ADSL Modem and then your computer and check that your computer can access the Internet
5. Install and Configure Internet Connection Sharing
6. Turn on Playstation 2, Insert Network Access Disc and follow the on-screen instructions



When you’re Installing Central Station (on Network Access Disc) you will need the Following Information to hand…

1. Your Playstation 2’s Serial Number and Model number - located on the back of your PS2 it’s best to note down BEFORE attaching Network Adaptor as this covers it
2. Username and Password – these are the ones given to you by your broadband supplier when you signed up
3. IP Address – should you get a Screen asking you for your IP have it to hand, You must enter the Correct numbers for IP Address, Netmask and Gateway


Once through the Set up of Central Station all thats left to do is Kick back put in the game you wish and Enjoy the Online Gaming Experience ;)


Please Note if you do not buy the Network Adaptor (Ethernet) (for PS2) there is absolutely no point in following this Guide, The Network Adaptor is only £29.99 from your local Game, Woolworths, Virgin, HMV Stores, anywhere that sell Playstation Peripherals will sell this product! the Price you pay for the Adaptor is all you pay! None of this Subscription crap like the Xbox :thumbs:
