quote: Intels are better for stability and running professional apps etc etc ;) hence why every person that does graphics/video/music editing/CAD run intels etc. But still, upgrade ram (512mb min, or the big gb if you feel posh  ) and then defrag and have a bit of a clear out etc (unistall programs you dont use etc etc). If it still feels like cack, format reinstall windows  [Edited on 28-02-2005 by Dom]

at the cost or memory nowadays i'd go for 1Gb or 512mb minimum. That should see a big improvement.

Well they sorta do, as applications get more resource dependant, your PC is in effect slowing down.

quote:They don't slow down on their own, sounds like you need to have a clear out and possibly reinstall windows. That and get more RAM.

quote: Changing your CPUs clockspeed in BIOS by changing either the Front Side Bus or Multiplier. FSB is limited by the speed and quality of your RAM. Clockspeed = FSB x Multiplier Ie 200 x 11 = 2.2Ghz

Corsair, Kingston, Geil or OCZ are probably the best, but only worth getting if your overclocking, Crucial is good stable stuff for not overclocking.
