Try ftp'ing via the name version and you'll probably not get a response until the website's up.

just checked and on ftp via the ip number

cheers joffster and ian :)

Yup.

Are you logging into the FTP site with an IP address or name (ftp.drewswebspace.com) as the host address?
If it's IP, then that'll explain why you're seeing one site through FTP and another over HTTP.

rereading that, it looks like it will take a couple of days for the nameservers to sort themselfs out, then the site would be back to normal after that??? is that correct??? :)

this is email i got from hosts......................

We have therefore decided that a move to another DataCentre is in need, and therefore we are warning all clients to keep backups of their SQL database's for the transfer on Tuesday. We will be transferring all files and SQL databases on that date, however the nameservers IP update will take up to 1-3 days, and therefore we recommend you keep daily backups of your SQL database's (if any) On Monday onwards. If all goes to plan we will experience no downtime at all, the only problem that will arise is the database updates during the migration time.

We thankyou for your patience during this time,

:o

what i have is the index page redirecting straight to the forum, so when you go to domain, it takes you to the forum

i cancelled this (after i just got the file list) made a quick index page, uploaded it to the root folder, but that still dont work, and when i go to the root folder, it dont even show that the index file is there, but if i go to ws_ftp pro, it shows the index file there

Ah, didn't read that lol.

Check the default pages like Ian's said. If you're on Windows hosting and using ASP pages, make sure ASP's enabled and index.asp or default.asp are in your default page list.

If you're seeing a list of files instead of the site then I'd check the names of your index page and make sure its in the config.

Usually:

index.htm
index.html
default.htm
default.asp

and others work, but if yours is something funny which the old server had and the new one doesn't it won't give you it.

Might not be that but that is my guess!

Joff

It'll all be fine overnight.

this MAY NOT work...

disconnect from the net
start
run
command

in the dos box, type

IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS

reboot your machine

reconnect & try again

if it dont work, then will be your ISP.s DNS cache which hasnt updated yet, will just be a case of waiting!

my website hosts have recently (yest or today) moved to a different 'datacentre'

now my website still works for some people, but for me, and some other people, all it shows up is a list of the files on the site, dont actually display the pages

wtf is up with it :boggle::boggle:
