just put them both in the same workgroup and browse via network neighbourhood.

On XP Machine:
Enable file sharing if not already enabled, and down any firewalls
On the Laptop:
Go to Start and Run...type \\"destination Comp Name"\c$ (will give you access to the C: drive of that comp using the hidden share name that is default on every drive in Windows)
Then just copy the files accross the network, you will have to know the local administrator account password the the computer to do this.
Should work...

i have forgotten the majority of stuff i learnt in college so i need your help..
i have built a pc for my bedroom out of spare parts from all the other pc's i have had in the past, its not too sad. i have a adsl router connected to it and my sister now has my old laptop and is connected to the router via wireless connection.
right i have files on my old laptop which i wish to transfer, to my desktop pc.
how do i do this using the network?
ps im runnin XP pro on each node
