Yes, you have one of those spammer viruses... It installs itself on your PC and then duplicates itself by sending e-mails to other people. Very clever I think, but a total nuisence

I would advise you to get F-Secure virus scanner. It has got every virus I have come accross and my PC runs a lot smoother than wmeh I used Norton a few years ago as it's updates are doen a lot more smoothly...

be carefull what you save from the old HD because it could be music/movie or something you've downloaded causeing the problem, just run a spyware catcher, and scan yout HD for viruses

Back up any files you need to keep as you will loose the lot.
Make sure any programs you have 'aquired' are on CD if you want them again.
Insert the Windows installation CD - if you run Widnows - and go throught the options to do a full re-installation.
If the computer freezes with a blank screen at this stage, which most Windows installation shave done for me, restart the PC and press F2 (I think) to access the BIOS menu, you need to scroll down to where it says something about the primary boot disk. This needs to be set to CD-ROM as the primary boot drive.
After about 15 mins of fucking about it should tell you that it's going to re-fprmat the hard disk - you want to do that and it might also re-partition the disk.
It will them re-install the lot and you will have a sparkly new PC :)
Don't forget to re-start the PC and change the primary boot drive back to Hard drive :)
