the + format belongs to philips and sony and the - format belongs to panasonic and pioneer . two different standards, like james said almost every writer writes to both now. | |

Because DVD Rewriters are relatively new technology, there's multiple formats. | |

RW means you can keep writing to the disc. | |

at a guess i would say DVD+RW are the ones you can use again and the DVD-RW you only use once.but that's only a guess | |
