DirectX is a program that works with your graphics-card and Windows, in order to display the pictures in games......to put it simply.

However, if you've played the game fine before with your computer, it could mean your graphics-card drivers have corrupted, may be worth reinstalling them if you've still got the disc/CD that came with the card (or your computer, if you bought it as a package).

DirectX is a program used to improve performance when using multimedia software like games. It helps render graphics and sounds better.

You don't need a new graphics card. You have got your screen resalution set wrong, on the Windows desktop, right click and select properties, then settings. Then changes your screen res using the slide pannel to the setting the game advises on using. It will probably be 1024x768 or 800x600...

Sounds like your graphics card is too low-spec (ie. not powerful enough) to support the screen-resolution required by the game.

An upgrade will most likely be required, and will set you back anything in the region of £25 to £600, depending on how high-tech you want to go with the new graphics-card.
