with a network you can use all of them at the same time, but you will only notice a drop in speed if they were all downloading large files.

Will i loose speed though? This is important! At the mo i'm using 800 kbps adsl modem.

Will run my other two comps from it too using PCI cards. Can only use one at a time so only one will prob be connected

or if it is just the 2 computers, do away with the router, and set up an Ad-hoc (peer to peer) network, with just the 2 wireless cards connecting the computers, and ICS (internet connection sharing, built into windows) to share the broadband. Depends on how much £ you have and what you need.

the newest standard, 802.11g runs at 54mbps and has an increased range to the old 11/22mbps wireless standard. Something like this would be perfect as a router...

But you would need an ADSL modem with ethernet connection (not USB) to connect to it. If you dont have one, then you can pick them up pretty cheap. (Works out cheaper than wireless router/adsl modem combined). Then to conenct to the router, you would either need PCI cards for desktops like these....

and to connect laptops, you will need something like this...

look on overclockers for the d-link gear if u get d-link router and pcmcia card u get 22Mbs transfer over a network. u can have any number of wireless connection to the router btw not just ur laptop.
