My iPad was not really much more portable than my 13" mbp, both need a bag. Mini goes in my hoody pocket so is a good alternative to my laptop. It's got Siri as well the mini, and I know they're the same but the mini feels noticeably quicker on iOS 6

There's not much point in getting rid of an iPad2 for a Mini unless it is size difference you are after. Spec wise it is an iPad2.

The 4th generation is twice as fast and had twice the graphics.

Originally didn't see the point of the mini until I got one in my hand in a shop and I loved it! So much better than the full sized one

What do you think of the mini?
I'm considering getting rid of my iPad 2 for the 4th gen iPad
