If you just need to backup the text's then you can try http://www.iphone-sms.com/ which allows you export iPhone texts to PDF/Excel/HTML. There's also a software version http://www.iphonesmsexport.info/download.asp.

If you want to import them into Android then have a look at https://market.android.com/details?id=org.faked.isms2droid. Bit more info about it http://faked.org/isms2droid/

Download handcent sms on the old phone. Pay for their online backup utility, back up messages from old phone to server, download on new phone.

Job done, and cheap :)

Suppose he could stick a vodafone sim in the phone as the new htc is unlocked.

Fair enough.

I know it's doable on Blackberry, so probably is on iPhones.

Ask Doug off here, he's your best bet of knowing, his job used to entail going into the back end of phones to download files.

Mates just picked up a brand new HTC evo 3D but one problem i and him cant get around is trying to transfer all his text messages from his old iphone 3gs to his new htc.

Anyone any ideas? programs to use ect?

needing this kinda done soon as his old iphone is buggerd!
